HehEsewos: fixed grammer

This guide will show you how to curate VRML content using Flashpoint Core.

Before You Start
This tutorial will assume you've read the standard Curation Tutorial, which is highly recommended to go through. Try curating a Flash game before moving on to other platforms like VRML.

How to recognize a VRML application
* 1. VRML is usually mentioned somewhere on site (sometimes in title of an application).
* 2. After looking there sometimes clickling on things like links or screenshots, you will get the .wrl file.

How to curate a VRML application
Things before start:
* You can only use MAD4FP if you are using Core 9 or higher. If you get "directory contains no data", manually check in browser if file is still on site.
* Error 304 in logs is normal.
* No matter the type of VRML application i.e. (model, static or animated) , which user can interact, curate it as game.
* Sites contains a lot of small models should be curated as miscrosite. When you doing this, add word "Microsite" after title, e. g. "JASON VRML Microsite" where "JASON VRML" is original title from site and use models titles and Alternate Title in your curation.
* Sometimes in .wrl file you can find informations about developer and original release date.

There are two major versions of VRML: VRML 1.0 and VRML 2.0 aka VRML97 (this document does not discuss X3D, which can be considered version 3+ of VRML).

VRML files are plain text or gzipped plain text. If you try to open a VRML file and it looks like gibberish, pack it to the archive by e.g. 7-zip and now click to open.

To tell if a VRML file is 1.0 or 2.0, it's sufficient to look at the first line of the file.

A VRML 1.0 file's first line looks like this:

#VRML V1.0 ascii

Use Live3D (FPSoftware\startLive3D.bat) or CosmoPlayer (FPSoftware\startCosmo211.bat).

A VRML 2.0 file's first line looks like this:

#VRML V2.0 utf8

Use CosmoPlayer (FPSoftware\startCosmo211.bat) or Blaxxun (FPSoftware\startBlaxxun44.bat).

Cores options for a VRML Curation shown below:

Example of a Launch Command: http://cgg.mff.cuni.cz/~jaroslav/projects/celts/world/kelti.wrl

If working well in both, choose CosmoPlayer.
If you can't open file to get this information, run application by all three and choose best viewer based on the: application performance, comfort of playing and whether all assets (sounds and textures) are loaded.

Troubleshooting
VRML is mostly multiassets stuff from the beginning of the Internet. If some assets of application you are currently curating are lost, always check Wayback Machine. Rarely, but it happens that if you have couple of applications contains in one series, developers may used the same texture files for all. If you have missing asset in one application, but another contains file with identical name as this missing, you can copy this asset to application without it, but write about where comes this file in Notes is mandatory. After it, change Status from Playable to Hacked.

Blaxxun issues

- If textures of your application in Blaxxun are broken.

Left click and change High Speed to Hardware (last four options). To save this: left click -> Settings -> Preferences -> Direct3D -> Direct3D Driver -> Hardware -> OK.

* *

- If camera movement is very slow, change viewer to CosmoPlayer or Live3D.

Sometimes is mentioned on site, which viewer is the best for your application. In this situation:

- If Flashpoint supports the recommended viewer, use that viewer.
- If mentioned viewer doesn't supported by flashpoint - note the recommended viewer in Notes (this is mandatory) and choose another with are working best. Also, please write about it (with link to this site/viewer) on #vrml-chat on Flashpoint Discord Server.

.wrz file - just change extension to .wrl and added both files to your curation. Described it in Notes, and change Status from Playable to Hacked.

If you still have troubles, ask for help on #vrml-chat on Flashpoint Discord Server.
Currently Flashpoint doesn't support Cortona3D. It will be (hopefully) added in the future. For now sorry for the inconvenience.

This page describes how to submit metadata changes to games or animations that are already in Flashpoint. All metadata changes should be submitted in our #pending-fixes channel on Discord, including game/animation assets if necessary.

Before you begin, please note that metadata edits can only be submitted for games that are already in Flashpoint. If you notice a mistake with your own curation shortly after you've submitted it, you should delete and resubmit the curation within a few minutes of posting. If you notice later than that, you should wait until the next version.

Metadata Edits
First, use your copy of Flashpoint Infinity or Ultimate to find the game/animation that you wish to change.
# Click the entry to select it.
# On the right sidebar, click the pencil button. If this button is not available, click the Config tab of the launcher and check the Enable Editing box.
# Keep the ID of the game in mind (see screenshot on the right).
# Change the metadata that you wish to change.
# Once you're done, click the check in the top right to save your changes.
# Right click the game entry for a drop down menu, and click Export Meta Edit.
# Click the checkbox for each metadata type that you've changed.
# Click Export.
# Go into your Flashpoint folder, then Data, then the MetaEdits folder. (If you haven't done a metadata edit previously, this folder will have been created.)
# Remember that ID from a few steps back? You'll now have a file with that filename in this folder. This is your meta edit.

Drag and drop this meta edit to #pending-fixes and Discord will allow you to upload it straight to the channel. Type a message stating what the pending edit does (eg: "Updates the developer and description for Bowman".) If you wish to perform multiple pending fixes at a time, a zip file with all of the files is also acceptable.

You can test your meta edits if you so wish. By leaving the files in the MetaEdits folder, you can use the Developer tab (remember to enable it via Config), and use the Import Meta Edits button (the second set of buttons, furthest to the right). Simply click the button and you'll see a summary of your pending edits (they will be noted as "discarded changes" because they'll be the same in your copy).

Note: You cannot do a pending fix on a curation that hasn't been in a public Flashpoint release yet. The ID generated by Core and by the master build of Flashpoint are not the same.

Submitting Assets
If a game/animation needs content files added, submit a ZIP file containing the game/animation files, in the same format as the
content
folder of a standard curation. Submit the ZIP file by either uploading the file directly to Discord or uploading the file to our public upload service and sharing the link to the file. Do not use the uploaders meant for curations, your file will most likely be archived without being noticed before it's processed.

If content files already in Flashpoint need to be moved or deleted, include those instructions in your Discord message.

Submitting Alternates
In addition to metadata changes for existing entries, it is possible to submit alternate versions of games/animations that are already in Flashpoint. Alternates are listed on the right sidebar of Flashpoint Launcher when an entry is selected. Although the format of an alternate submission is similar to that of a metadata edit, BlueMaxima adds alternates manually. So, be sure to indicate the title of the game/animation in your submission to make the process easier.

To submit an alternate, first follow the instructions in the "Submitting Assets" section. If you would like to submit Extras, just include an Extras folder in your ZIP file. If any other files are required (such as a Shockwave Xtra), include those as well. In your message, include the name of the entry to be modified, the name of the alternative app as will be shown in the launcher, and the launch command for said alternative app. Include any additional instructions for BlueMaxima if applicable. It should look something like this, but as long as you have all the essentials in the message in a not-stupid way, it should be okay:

Alternative App for Alien Hominid (Flash), Big Head Mod, http://uploads.ungrounded.net/10/alien_bighead.swf

(link to folder here)
